Comic Con Bangalore 2013 -- Cinebook A Special View

Bangaluru Comic Con 2013 happened on June 1st and 2nd in Koramangala Indoor Stadium...

Many of the wonderfull publishers were missing like Vimanika and Rovolt to be specific, but the presence of Cinebook took care of it a bit.

Other than that It was totally a merchandise expo with lots of hunger spots and less of good quality comics..

The Cos play was as usual, All characters of Marvel and DC dominates the scene... while many people doesn't event know Franco-Belgian Comic Heros...

My first day went in total joy with friends and I felt like living my dream a bit, would like to visit GibiCon once I get proficient in Italian.

with the Team...

A few snaps @ Lion

The name has to be said -- CAMPFIRE -- man you people at campfire rock... All Illustrated Classics at an International excellence by Indian Artists... I salute them.. bought a few of the books. I bought a few from them..

A small review about Campfire by Jason on his recent visit to their teams office...

Cant forget the warmth of our bangalore friends Periar, Suresh Natarajan, Suresh, Srini, Giri and of course all our friends who were there..

One can never missout Kaleel and his team...

Kaleel with my pard Palanivel who missedout to be Carson besides me on first day as he came only on the second...

with Giri at last...

Second day of comic con is much more fun filled with my friend Palanivel and a small Interview with Jerome the official translator for Cinebook publications.

A news review on the cinebook stall in Comic Con -- taking it international...

We welcomed him to tamil stall and he became stunned seeing all our Blueberry, Wayne, Largo, Lucky, Tex and Diabolic issues for such a small price tag..

I thought of gifting him something as translation from French to English without losing things out is a himalayan task too and so bought Villanukor Veli and gifted him...

He was very friendly and would love to be in touch, nice time with you Jerome I would never forget it...

would be soon doing a post on his exclusive interview... and the questions which our friends Palani and Prasana asked him...

A few persons I miss at Comic Con -- Johny, Lucky, Ragulan, Karan as Vimanika didnt come and ofcourse the team of Rovolt.

It was fully fun filled with my fantacies coming true with Tex in Cos Play...

cant forget the freinds Antony and Michael, who had a comic editing software stall in comic con.

Thanks Folks Its a freakout weekend all because of you, without which It would be another normal expo kinda as Comic Con is losing its charm and becoming more a cosplay centre...

Indrajaal == Arun Prasad

Arun Prasad is an historian specialized in the History of Bangalore and a pannapictagraphist (comics collector).

He is also a researcher, freelance writer and columnist on the heritage of Bangalore and presently the Project & Research Head of Discover Bengaluru, an organization documenting the Bangalore city's heritage and history.

He is more of a fan of great Artworks... I felt immersed amidst a lot of art books about great artworks around the world and that of great artists in his home..

It was a thursday evening in the coolest day of May month I reached Aruns residence with rain drops drizzling over me...

I am enthralled by seeing his collection of more than ten thousand comic books, out of which are the most loved ones The Panthoms, All Indrajaal, many of the rarest of books...

He had done a great level of research over the history of banglore and have many of the rarest glass negatives primitive in nature which is taken in the British Ira.

With a box to preserve those rare glass negatives, I recoken as he telling me that he has around 15 such boxes...

when I enquired him about how he collected all these rarities, he said he collected them from People in Britain who preserve these rarities...

A few snaps of his collections -- The totall floor was filled with comics every where I can never forget that evening...

Gold Key !!!!        Indrajaal!!!       Illustrated Weekly of India which had Panthom!!!

The First of Sport Star kinda one...

Ching Chow a comic strip which came as single in every issue of  Illustrated weekly is been taken by some collector and consolidated as a single book which somehow got in to the hands of a good comic collector...

Indian Comics and Earliest versions of Filmfare which came decades ago....

And the only french series book I saw there was Lucky Luke that too in Hindi....

Dalton Nagaram  in Hindi....

Still he is to be opened to the world of Franco Belgian Series, when I didnt find a single franco belgian series I felt his thirst to the unimaginary artworks havnt started yet as he is yet to taste the wonderfull essense of The Wide World of Franc - Belgian Series....

Its much warm in there with the books and his friendship is much more warmer and even without all those books one would befriend Arun for his passion and love towards comics. He has a nostalgic attachment towards Panthom as many of us do...

Thankyou Arun for the Wonderfull evening...

I got a book from Arun which I had been long waiting...

He also have a few sets of full collection of James Bond Series....

with fond memories...
